Plenty of theses around...... The fact that the two handed is what it takes to make a proper presentation makes it that much sweeter. They ate one of these. Turbid water? No problem. Just break out the "blurple". I took my son out to look for snakes this morning so momma could have a few mins to herself. We saw river herring. Feeling inspired by a great flat wing James left in the shop I tied up the fly to match the 8 inch herring. It only took two casts. It was a great night on my favorite water with great friends. I am very happy to catch my first striper on my new Winston BIII X TH 11 footer. I used a 400gr Skagit Max short, an itermediate tip and 20 lb flouro. I used a large but sparse flat wing on a 4/0. I love this set up. It is light and powerful and I can make any cast I need. Well it's been a month or so since my first Shad of the season. It sure was nice to get out and get into the thick of them tonight. They were on the chartuese and punk slut fly. I also had the great pleasure of taking s new fly fisherman out in the water tonight. These things are just damn fun. I took one of my new sticks out. I used a 400gr Skagit Max short, 10 ft of t10 and 35 lb rio slick shooter. I hooked into a submarine headed to Europe. Home water and two Handers rule. I really enjoyed this move by Todd Moen. The movie featured fishing buddies Jakob Lund and Jeff Hickman fishing for steelhead in some epic pacific north west scenery. The fushing action is cool but what really struck me was narration about fishing with a competent partner. I thought of my fishing buddies and some of the gnarly trips we have taken. Watch the video here. I took my father Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River in NY. We had a great time staying at the be Tailwater Lodge. Our Guide that I have gone out with for years, Paul Conklin was professional as always. I can't recommend going fishing with Paul enough. He knows the river and many different fishing styles. He got us onto great water without any of the usual distractions associated with the Salmon River. If you want to catch fish and not deal with the nonsense go with Paul. Questions?
