I'll never tell where. It measured out to 42 inches and it was super fat with all those spawning yellow perch. Yes that is my two hander with a number 5 Momentum next to the fish. It hit a black and green double bunny. I used a 400 gr Rio Skagit Flight, 10 ft of t10 and 3 ft of 1x Flouro Flex Plus. Enjoy!
Ok so here it is. I sure hope this article doesn't make me seem like a nut. I think I am pretty happy with the way things came out. I have linked some of the photos from the article below. Me like Jeter... come on now!
http://www.delawaretoday.com/Delaware-Today/April-2012/Fly-Fishing-with-Lee-Powers-in-Delaware/index.php?cparticle=1&siarticle=0#artanc ![]() The fog in the inlet looks nice. The reports from Old Inlet sound good. I am looking forward to making a run down there at some point. If you haven't already check out the Inlet cams at http://indianriverinletcam.com/ You can find Old Inlet's fishing reports at http://www.oldinlet.com/fishinginfo/fishingreport.php I picked up 3 Fenwick glass rods. I am really looking forward to putting them to work. They are models FF79, an 8 ft 6 wt, FF706, a 7 ft 6 wt and FF 9010, a 9 ft 10wt with a detachable lower grip. I think the 7 fter is going to be the most useful. I really want to try out some various weight forward and dt lines on the shorter rods. I am also looking forward to trying out some of my skagit set ups on the big rod. I am hoping that it will be like some sort of mini low budget Fiberhammer. I am all ears if anyone out there has any advice or info on any of these rods. I will put up reviews and pix later on.
I would like to give a shot Cameron Mortenson over at http://thefiberglassmanifesto.blogspot.com/ for getting interested in glass. I would also like to thank who ever put up this wiki http://fiberglass-fly-rods.pbworks.com/w/page/5182977/Fenwick for providing some info on Fenwick rods. It is so nice to get out and walk around before the summer sun starts to bake the mud. I didn't see the fish I was looking for but I saw some good friends who graciously watched me flub casts. I love my home river. It is not the most beautiful but it is beautiful. It is not the most historic but it is historic. The fishing has not been great over the past two years but it hasnt been that bad. It is close and for the most part we have it to ourselves. My goal is to never identify it here. The water is warming and I saw signs of activity. There was a blue heron on the water a few days a go. I had two soft tugs on my swung tube. You can see pix of the fly I used in some previous posts. It won't be long. I cant wait for the days and nights there with my buddies. I am looking forward to those late night walks out in the dark and the cold drink once we get back.
